The AP students are labeled the best of the best--future leaders of the nation! The Doctors, Proffessors, and lawyers of tomorrow! As an AP student, I've never understood the pressures. This definitely makes the kids involves nervous, and can sometimes frighten them clear off--we've all had those nasty teachers whom refuse to lighten up, even when the material's not too difficult or the excuses for late work were legitimate.
Honestly speaking, I've only ever took the AP classes for fun and because friends did. I've never done badly in them either, so I've continued until today! Yet, for some the pressures of achieving bright future can wreck their entire worlds, which has lead to the creation of this post.
Because you're worth it, dear reader, I've spent the time to gather up some of your "sempai" and ask questions (via tumblr and facebook, but still!) and ask them for their two cents on advice for future AP students. Whether you're a genius Harvard hopeful or a bored smartie like me, stick around. We've got some advice for you:
Armando Leon, Columbia acceptee, said "Do your homework, but don't feel as if you have to do all your work." Wise words, considering we were two of the five or six students to get B's in AP Lit.
Andrezej Himemiya Beilshmit's words of wisdom are to "fudge outlines so long as you understand the material and do well on Multiple Choice". The test scores count the most!
Jorge Becerra's simple bit of advice was "Do not procrastinate!" A crime I'm very guilty of committing (Please don't hate yourself like I apparently hate myself! It's miserable waiting last minute!).
My favorite bit of advice came from a girl named beuxandarrows on tumblr, who shared "Accept the fact that grades don't matter. . . .ten years from now, no one will hold it against you if you got a 26% on that one test in class taught by that one teacher."
My own bit of advice mirrors those of the people kind enough to answer my survey questions:

- Don't hate on yourself for not getting top marks. Even if your family's strict, you're the one in charge of where your life's gonna go, not them.
- Don't take the class because someone else says you should. Take it for yourself, because it's your interest to do so!
- Take each AP exam, even if it's just to kick another High School's ass.
- Take it seriously, but not too seriously. You're not even of legal age yet, and I doubt you're getting high. Your life is not ruined.
With love
Nikola Strange
